This is the first real post I am making! However – in an almost comically stereotypical ADHD fashion – I have been putting off writing this for nearly 2 years now! I made the website in 8th grade and I would always tell myself that I would do it next week, and then the next, but next week never comes.
One thing that I have had to confront now that I am a highschool sophmore is that I can’t keep lying to myself and convincing myself that I’m managing my time just because I’m giving a vague estimate of when I’ll be done being distracted, because as anyone with ADHD can astest to: You will always be distracted!
I’ve found that having a constant reminder that you can’t ignore is the best thing to draw my focus back to my work. Examples of this would be: keeping the assignment physically on you (like just bringing it around with you), or even having a timer that goes off to remind you of how much time has passed. I’m trying to integrate these “techniques” into my day to day life so that I can improve my ability to manage my ADHD, as well as learn how to be more concious of how I manage my time. I’ll try to find more strategies as I go, and I’ll definitely make another post if I find anything new or game changing!
